Adventist Health is hosting a free breast screening event for the uninsured in Kern County on Friday, April 10.

Availability is limited, so early reservations are encouraged. Uninsured community members may call 661-863-2001 to schedule an appointment for their free screening.
A clinical breast exam is a physical exam of the breasts performed by a healthcare provider. During the exam, the provider will examine the appearance of the breasts and survey any differences in size or shape. Breast health is a critical component of overall well-being, and early detection is key to successful treatment. This event is an opportunity for the uninsured to receive vital breast screening services in a supportive and caring environment.
This initiative is made possible through a collaboration with Links for Life, Kern County Cancer Foundation, and the American Cancer Society.
Breast cancer is the most common cancer diagnosed in American women, according to the American Cancer Society. One in 8 will receive a diagnosis during their lifetime. That means roughly 400 Kern County community members will receive a breast cancer diagnosis this year. Nearly 70 percent of those in Kern County turn to the AIS Cancer Center for breast cancer care.
Since the AIS Cancer Center opened in 2016, our care team has treated more than 5,000 new patients, 1,400 of whom were treated for breast cancer.
