Wildfire is a natural occurring phenomenon that has helped to shape our landscape. While most wildfires are caused by human activities, wildfire can be a useful tool in managing our forests and woodlands. This presentation will offer insight on how wildfire severity has dramatically increased in our built environment and recommendations to mitigate your risk.
Jon Wright is a wildfire mitigation specialist with Austin Fire's Wildfire Division. He studied forestry at Cal Poly Humboldt, with an emphasis on wildfire management. He also worked seasonally with the U.S. Forest Service as a wildland firefighter and natural resource specialist. Additionally, he worked as a contractor for PG&E in California as a Consulting Utility Forester and for Austin Energy as a UVM Specialist.
