Join the Wendell Chess Club for an introductory free beginner-friendly chess lesson on Saturday, June 20, 2026!
This session is designed for ages 8–17 who are interested in learning chess for the first time. No prior experience is required. Students will learn the basics of the game, how the pieces move, fundamental opening principles, and how to play a complete game of chess in a fun and welcoming environment.
If your child is curious about chess, enjoys puzzles and strategy games, or is looking to learn a new skill, this class is a great place to start. Chess can help students develop critical thinking, problem-solving abilities, concentration, patience, and sportsmanship while having fun and making new friends.

Registration Required
Limited to 30 participants. Registration will close once all spots have been filled.
Important Information
• Students under the age of 16 must be signed in by a parent or legal guardian.
• Students should be dropped off by 9:45 AM to allow time for check-in before the lesson begins.
• Students must be picked up by 2:30 PM at the conclusion of the event.
