Join us at the Kent History and Library Centre in Maidstone for a free author talk with Rachel Amphlett!
Rachel now lives in Australia, but her popular Kay Hunter crime series is set locally in Kent.
She will be talking about how the Maidstone and district setting has inspired her Detective Kay Hunter books over the years. Rachel will share what she has learned from writing about different locations and how research plays a big part in her work. She will also talk about how her research sometimes goes further than planned, including how she unexpectedly became a qualified private investigator!
Her latest book, What Evil Hides, was published in February. A new collection of short stories, released under the Case Files banner, will be published the day before this talk on 8 June. This year also marks the 10th anniversary of the first Kay Hunter book, Scared to Death, which introduced readers to the Kent‑based detective series.
The event includes a 30 minute talk followed by a 30 minute question and answer session.
This is a relaxed, welcoming event for anyone who enjoys reading and books.
This event is free, and open to all ages, though adults may find it more suitable. Refreshments will be served.
Booking is required. Please contact the Kent History and Library Centre team directly.
