Free Art Therapy Workshop for World Suicide Prevention Day
About this Event
Free Art Therapy Workshop for World Suicide Prevention Day
Thursday, September 10, 2026
In honor of World Suicide Prevention Day, I invite you to join us for a free art therapy workshop focused on reflection, mindfulness, and healing.
This workshop is especially for those who have lost a loved one to suicide, those supporting someone struggling with their mental health, and anyone who has experienced suicidal thoughts themselves. You are not alone! This is an opportunity to gather in community, reflect, create, and be reminded that your life has value and your story matters.
Workshop Activities
Breathwork
Simple breathing exercises designed to calm the nervous system, reduce stress, and provide tools that can be used during moments of frustration, anxiety, grief, or emotional pain.
Journaling
Guided journaling prompts focused on gratitude, resilience, hope, and recognizing the people, experiences, and possibilities that make life worth continuing.
Abstract Painting
A creative experience where participants can express emotions, release stress, and create without judgment or expectations. No artistic experience is necessary.
This is not a clinical therapy session. It is a supportive community centered workshop that uses creativity, reflection, and mindfulness to encourage healing and connection.
Together, we can honor those we have lost, support those who are struggling, and help break the silence surrounding suicide and mental health.
This free workshop is dedicated to the memory of my cousin, Stephen Sapp Jr., who took his own life on April 18, 2023.
His passing changed my life forever. For a long time, I carried guilt because I didn't know what he was struggling with or how much pain he was carrying. I was living my own life, unaware of the battles he was facing. Losing him made me realize how important it is to check on the people we love and create spaces where people feel safe to express what they're going through.
Since Stephen's death, I have dedicated my artwork and The Hyangle Art Therapy Workshops to supporting mental wellness, encouraging self-expression, and helping others find healthy ways to process emotions. My hope is that through art, conversation, and community, we can help people feel seen, heard, and supported.
