About The Grateful String Band:
Celebrating the sounds and soul of the Grateful Dead's five decade long tenure, The Grateful String Band is Chicago's premier "deadicated" bluegrass band. While the quartet is made up of veterans from various different musical backgrounds, the band is an arguably unified powerhouse when time comes to deliver a live performance. With a repertoire full of your favorite Dead-related songs, The Grateful String Band's infectious groove & inventive jams leave Dead Heads and bluegrass traditionalists alike cheering for more.
About Wheels North:
Fronted by Mark Frystak (guitar/vocal) and Hayley Skreens (banjo/vocal), Wheels North is a progressive bluegrass trio from the Illinois Fox Valley. The primary band arrangement includes Jesse Fuller (bass/vocal), but can be found performing as a duo or full band as well. Wheels North offers powerful three-part harmonies, skillfully crafted arrangements, and an enticing catalog of both covers and originals.
About The Frankfort Bluegrass Festival:
The 13th Annual Frankfort Bluegrass Festival is a FREE family friendly event Saturday and Sunday July 13th & 14th 2025 in downtown Frankfort, IL put on soley by volunteers featuring 15+ top notch national and regional bluegrass bands performing on Breidert Green and in Prairie Park, along with kids tent and activities area, workshops with musicians, jam tent, food and craft vendors and more.
The Frankfort Bluegrass Fest is an Illinois non-profit event that is only made possible by generous donation and sponsorship. Made up of passionate volunteers, our mission is to promote the preservation and education of bluegrass music, a true traditional American musical art form in downtown Frankfort, IL and beyond.
We are proud to have won the prestigious International Bluegrass Music Association (IBMA) Event Of The Year Award in 2018 as well as the Event Pacesetter Award in 2016 and 2017, bringing international acclaim to Frankfort.
