Frame Drum Masterclass With Kirill Osherov

A hands-on 3-hour workshop introducing core hand techniques, tone production, and essential rhythmic patterns on the frame drum. Through warm-ups, guided drills, call-and-response, and ensemble jams, participants will build timing, dynamics, and the ability to accompany and play confidently.

Workshop Flow - Fingerstyles, Grooves & Ensemble

• Welcome, introductions, posture & hand-health basics
• Warm-up exercises and basic strokes (bass, slap, tap, finger)
• Tone-shaping and dynamic control (hand placement, muting)
• Foundational grooves in different meters
• Ensemble practice: holding a groove and simple accompaniments
• Improvisation prompts and rhythmic composition basics
• Wrap-up, practice tips, Q&A

Outcomes

• Confident execution of basic strokes and rhythms
• Ability to hold a foundational groove and accompany a song
• Practical practice plan and resources for continued development
