Jersey Improv Lab presents a beginner-friendly, four-week improv comedy workshop in the heart of downtown Hoboken. The workshop is designed for adults who want to have fun, meet new people locally, and try something new in a welcoming, low-pressure environment.
Your instructor, Nick Carrillo, brings years of teaching and performance experience with UCB, the PIT, Lee Strasberg, NBC, Comedy Central, and Marvel, and has designed a unique beginner-focused curriculum featuring exercises to bring students together and express themselves in fun, collaborative and creative ways.
By the end of the four weeks, you’ll have a strong foundation in the basics of improv comedy (including scene and character building) and feel more comfortable trusting your instincts, staying in the moment, and expressing yourself in creative and playful ways.
No homework, no memorizing lines, no pressure.
This isn’t theater school.
It’s improv as a playful, social, after-work experience.

About the Instructor
This workshop is led by Nick Carrillo, an actor and improv comedy instructor who has been teaching and performing improv, sketch, and theater throughout New York City for several years.
Nick has trained/performed/taught with UCB, The PIT, and The Lee Strasberg Theatre & Film Institute, and was an original cast member of the Off-Broadway hit Puffs; Or Seven Increasingly Eventful Years at a Certain School of Magic and Magic.
In addition to his stage work, Nick has appeared in commercials and has been featured on NBC, VH1, Comedy Central, and truTV. He also works with Marvel, hosting digital video content and appearing on The Official Marvel Podcast.
As an instructor, Nick focuses on creating a supportive, low-pressure environment where students can have fun, take risks, and build confidence while learning the fundamentals of improv comedy.
