You start and finish at 1000 Bay Avenue, so there's a nice sense of coming full circle, both literally and figuratively. It's like a little adventure in itself. You're running along the Columbus Riverwalk, right next to the Chattahoochee River. You've got the longest urban whitewater course in the world, right on one side and the timeless beauty of the Columbus on the other. It's like a blend of modern thrill and classic charm, all in one run.
As you go through parts of Uptown Columbus, you're in for a treat. This vibrant part of town is packed with character, and you'll get to soak up the local atmosphere as you cruise through. And we can't forget about those fountains. Columbus is famous for them, and the route takes you right past some of the most beautiful ones. It's like a sprinkling of magic to keep you going.
Fountain City 5 isn't just a race; it's a chance to be part of something that celebrates the heart and soul of Columbus.Fountain City 5 is all about embracing the town's best features and letting them fuel your run. Get ready to make some memories on that 5k loop – it's going to be a blast!
Who: Project 42 Running and you.
What: 5k, 10k, 15k, 25k, and 50k all run on the same 5k loop. There may or may not be a set of stairs in the middle. But hey! This is an urban ultra course. We needed something challenging in there.
Where: 1000 Bay Avenue, Columbus, GA
When: December 1, 2024, at 8:00 am in Columbus.
Why: Because it's fun, we love endurance running, and it just happens to be the Sunday after Thanksgiving, so you can run off a few of those Holiday Calories. You know, before you pile them right back on in the rest of December.
Packet Pickup Begins on December 1, 2024 at 7am right in front of the splash pad on Bay Avenue.
Register here before race day as there will not be Race Day Registration. Register before November 18 to guarantee your shirt size.
Every runner gets a shirt, (*Don't forget about that shirt deadline) a medal, and tote bag. There is a special award for 1st place male and female winner in each race as well as a very special award for those of you who spend a little extra time on course.
You have until 4:00 pm (a solid 9 hours) to finish the 50k.
