Found Poetry: Writing Resistance

Words are everywhere. Often they're used against us. The most revolutionary thing you can do is to reuse what's there and transform the propaganda. Let's reclaim the rhetoric and resist.

Over the weeks we'll explore different techniques: blackout poetry, erasure poetry, collages, cento and whiteout poetry. Maybe we'll create our own techniques.

About your facilitator

Narimaan Shafi is an award winning local writer passionate about creating Found Poetry.

She was recipient of the Finchale Award in 2026. She won the Portico Library's Rewriting the North Mentorship with Faber in 2022. Since then she has had a short story published in the anthology Tales from the Kitchen by Fox and Windmill. In 2024, she won the Off the Shelf Sheffield Short Story Competition.
