Fotophase Exhibition at Tamarkin Camera: Still, We See
Fotophase is a nonprofit advancing the role of photography within neuroarts—the emerging field examining how the arts and aesthetic experiences affect the brain, body and behavior.
Still, We See is Fotophase's debut photographic exhibition bringing 23 photographers together exploring the healing and transformational power of photography.
Presented at the Rangefinder Gallery at Tamarkin Camera, each photographer presents a single photograph on their relationship to to memory, illness, trauma, identity and transformation.
Join us for the opening reception of Still, We See, with talks featuring featured photographers and Fotophase Co-Founders James Rice and Dr. Gene Beyt, revealing how the way we see directly impacts the way we see and interpret the world.

About the exhibition
The title Still, We See refers to the photographic still, the practice of sustained attention and the capacity to continue seeing through experiences that change us.
The works do not present a single definition of healing or transformation. Together, they reveal the different roles photography can hold within a life.
The exhibition will remain on view at the Rangefinder Gallery through the end of September.
About Fotophase
Fotophase is developing photography-based aesthetic experiences, educational programs and research that explore how image-making influences perception, meaning and well-being. Its broader aim is to advance photography as a recognized medium within neuroarts and expand access to thoughtful photographic experiences for people navigating trauma, illness, stress and life transition.
Fotophase programs are educational and participatory. They are not clinical treatment or a substitute for professional healthcare.
