About this Event
I'll be celebrating my birthday this year soaking up some sun at Jalama Beach. In addition to enjoying the sceenry and coastal breeze I'll be combing the beach in search of ancient fish fossils.
I plan on camping Fri-Sat and have a limited number of spots available if you care to join. You can also just come for the afternoon. The park charges a $10 fee per vehicle. Or if you would prefer to book your own campsite you can use the link at the bottom but dont sleep cause they fill up fast this time of year.
What to expect:
- Exploring the coastline of Jalama Beach County Park.
- Cracking open fallen shale in hopes of finding fish fossils.
- Calm relaxing day at the beach.
- Camping optional: An evening bonfire (if permitted) and sleeping under the stars enjoying the sounds of crashing waves in the distance. Food and camping gear NOT provided.
What to bring:
- Beach gear - whatever helps you enjoy a day at the beach.
- Sunscreen and protective attire.
- Windbreaker
- Food - Snacks and a lunch
- Plenty of drinking water
- Collection gear: sturdy tote or backpack, newspaper or toilet paper to wrap minerals, geology pick or small hammer/mallet, chisels and/or flat head screwdriver, gardeing or hardware gloves, old toothbrush, and a spray bottle of water.
- If camping: tents, sleeping bags and gear. Additonal meals and extra water. and some firewood.

Full refund up to 1 week prior to the event.
Children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. You are responible for your safety and that of your party.
