On Saturday 4th July, national and outer national forces will gather for the Fortress of Dub, as we come together to raise money for Unity Day!!
It is with great joy to bring Burning Bug Soundsystem back to Leeds, with Lewis Bennett at the helm. Lewis Bennett is a great powerhouse from the next generation of reggae dub soundsystem artists, with many productions under his belt already, his own label Burning Bug Records, a 24/7 radio station and of course the soundsystem we will all be dancing in front of soon!
Lion hEd Events is proud to welcome the premier reggae and dub artists from Hong Kong, for the Leeds stop of their UK tour! Get ready to hear the sounds of singer, songwriter, producer, MC and recording artist Mouse FX, top event promotor and selecta Heavy Hong Kong alongside his partner in vibe, Chakka C! Also joining them will be Waifung, a multi instrumentalist who has been based in London since the Black Cat Soundsystem days when the musical journey of Being One first began!
Being One, the final selecta rounding off the evening, has been playing regularly at festivals and overseas for the last 10 years, helping over 20 soundsystems along the way. Since moving to Leeds Being One has set up Lion hEd Events, running our own events while continuing to host the Musical Monday Show on the Rootsyard Radio Studio, where we jam with 8 musical instruments, 1 week after another.
All of these forces come together to raise funds for Unity Day, which is a big, free community event that takes place on Woodhouse Moore during the summer. It is run by Unity Leeds which has recently gained CIC status, and is completely run by volunteers.
Lion hEd Events has also been helping to organise the community areas of Unity Day, which will also have a section running during the first section of this event, ahead of the musical fundraiser, starting from 3pm with stalls, workshops, spoken word and acoustic acts. This part of the event will be free for all to come and enjoy.
