Please join Evergreen Bicycle Works and the Friends of the Champlain Canalway Trail in celebrating Earth Day 2025 with a Canal Clean Sweep along the Old Champlain Canal in Fort Edward.Volunteers will cover a one mile stretch of the Old Champlain Canal starting at the Empire State Trail Trailhead parking lot (at Mullen Park) and finishing at the Feeder Canal Towpath Trail parking lot (at the end of Towpath Lane). Volunteers will be tasked primarily with removing litter, although there may be opportunity for some light brush trimming and raking, so bring along gloves, rakes, and loppers if you can. We also recommend wearing boots or hard-soled shoes and bringing a hat, sunscreen, and water.
We will be meeting at the Empire State Trail Trailhead parking lot at Mullen Park in Fort Edward. Parking is available in the upper and lower lots at Mullen Park and on the park side of Towpath Lane (near the pond).
