About DJ Sampa
Sampa is a vinyl DJ and cultural producer who loves northern and north-eastern culture, especially forró pé de serra. He founded the project “Forró Vinyl” and co-founded the group “Forró Vem Vem”, both cultural projects that promote forró.
Sampa was born and raised in São Paulo and was influenced by popular music styles of the seventies and eighties. He began DJing Samba, Samba-Rock, Rap, Hip Hop and Funk-Soul in the nineties at parties. Sampa's first contact with Forró Pé De Serra was at the end of the 1990s in the first movements in the capital of São Paulo.
Since 2014, he has been researching the roots of Forró Pé de Serra, its genres and the aspects of north-eastern music. He has been a professional DJ since the 2000s and has performed at clubs and events in Europe, opening shows for singers and instrumentalists. Between 2007 and 2010 he DJed at Clube do Forró and Gafieira in Zurich and since 2014 he has been studying Forró Pé De Serra in its traditional context. Sampa has been performing at festivals and clubs all over Europe since 2015, and has participated in editions of Rootstock Brasil and Forró De Vitrola. He combines his experience as a professional DJ with his passion for Forró Pé De Serra and its aspects.

About our Guest Teacher
Galatea is a passionate forró dancer and teacher based in Zürich. She finds constant inspiration in working with people through movement and dance.
Her forró journey began in London in 2014, where the mix of styles, teachers, and the diverse community offered a rich playground for growth and exploration. In 2017, she joined Chinedu’s Forró Foundations teaching team, further deepening her experience as both a dancer and educator.
A year later, Galatea moved to Zürich and teamed up with DJ Sampa to co-found Forró Vinyl, an association that promotes forró through vinyl culture, DJing, and dance workshops. Together, they organize monthly events in Zürich and the annual Forró Vinyl Festival. She teaches regularly in Zürich at TanzQuotient (ETH and UZH), TanzWerk101, and at her own school, Passo a Passo.
Galatea continues to receive mentorship and coaching from Sheila Santos, refining her quality of movement, body awareness, and expressive autonomy.
Her background as a mover has been shaped by her early practice of hip hop as a teenager and Capoeira in her twenties. Alongside her dance career, she works as a UX Designer and has recently completed the Balanced Body Pilates Teacher Training and qualified as a Somatic Yin Yoga Teacher.

About the project
Forró Vinyl brings the best of traditional and contemporary forró to Zürich on a monthly basis. You can expect DJ performances, lots of good music, dance workshops, amazing vibes and a super friendly atmosphere. Forró Vinyl is the brain child of DJ Sampa, DJ, researcher, collector and Brazilian music lover. The aim of this project is to promote Brazilian culture through the beautiful sounds of vinyl records.
