Forrest McCurren is a Missourian, an enthusiastic dancer, and a singer-songwriter. I met him and his wife, Margaret, when they performed at Duke's Indy and became an instant fan. Forrest writes and performs songs that remind me and others of John Prine and Todd Snider. Margaret is a John Hartford fiddle contest winner and will "sprinkle in some fiddle tunes" to the show as Forrest so cleverly stated.
In addition to being excellent musicians, they may just be two of the sweetest people I have ever met. So in honor of them and in honor of mothers of all kinds (mothers, stepmothers, cat mothers, dog mothers, mothertruckers, lovers of mothers) I will be baking some pies for this show on Mother's Day, May 10th, 2026. There will be no alcohol but slices of pie and other light refreshments available.
As always, this is a show that requires listening to the music and not having side conversations. But that doesn't mean stuffy. Forrest is very fun and engagingand there will be lots of smiles and laughter.
So come and help kick off Townie Summer here in Bloomington, Indiana!
