Forest Therapy is a gentle, mindful walk in nature that awakens the senses, reduces stress, and nurtures mental & physical well-being.
About this Event

Forest Therapy is a gentle practice of mindful awareness and connection to nature that promotes both mental and physical wellness. Rooted in the Japanese tradition of Shinrin-yoku (Forest Bathing), this practice invites you to bathe your five senses in the sights, sounds, textures, and aromas of the forest.

Unlike a hike or fitness walk, this two-hour experience covers approximately one kilometre at a slow and intentional pace. The forest is the therapist—your guide simply offers prompts to help open your senses and encourage you to notice what is around you.

You will be invited to:

  • Slow down, wander, sit, or lean quietly among the trees.
  • Experience the forest through mindful observation rather than analysis.
  • Listen inwardly while also tuning outwardly to the natural world.
  • Share reflections with the group if you choose, or remain in silence.

At times, we will separate to spend about 20 minutes on our own. The guide will signal our return to gather as a group. Sharing is always optional, and silence is respected as a source of strength.

Why join a Forest Therapy walk?
Scientific evidence suggests that spending time in nature supports wellness, including reduced stress, improved sleep, lower blood pressure, and a boosted overall mood. Forest Therapy takes us back to a way of being when humans lived in harmony with the land.

We will also acknowledge the Indigenous People of the land where we walk and encourage participants to reflect on their own heritage and the landscapes where their ancestors once lived in connection with the natural world.

The hope is that this gentle practice will inspire a deeper sense of self-care, peace, and a sense of belonging.
