Forest Therapy, also known as Forest Bathing, is a relational practice that brings people into deeper intimacy with natural places. And one of those natural places is our natural self; it’s a practice that holds the possibility of meeting again the kernel of who we are, and what we are born to be and how we are intended to be of service in the world. Indigenous People's Day is October 12. Your participation supports Indigenous groups through a 10% donation. In honor of the holiday this practice can be a time for participants to reflect on their relationship to the land, its history, and how they might honor the first people or make their own reparations as the holiday approaches.

Please join Certified Forest Therapy Guide Mel Schneider and fellow Yoga Sanctuary friends for a 2-hour guided, slow-wandering experience intended to deeply restore you. Mel will invite us to pause for a few brief sensory connections followed by circle sharing. We will end with a tea ceremony honoring the Japanese practice of Shinrin-Yoku, and the roots of Forest Bathing.
Forest Therapy is a practice. It is open-ended; there is no prescription for what a person "should" experience, or what benefits they "should" receive. Instead, it is a practice of developing a deepening relationship of reciprocity, in which the forest and the practitioner find a way to work together that supports the wholeness and wellness of each.
*Mel will send an email with location details.

From Mel Schneider - “Through my work as an Environmental Educator I have observed both the healing and restorative power of nature, as well as evidence that many people feel disconnected from the natural environment around them. As a Forest Therapy Guide trained through the Association of Nature and Forest Therapy, I hope to help people not just receive the many health benefits of spending mindful time in nature, but also form deeper relationships with themselves, others, and the more-than-human world. I look forward to sharing some restorative time in the woods with you!”
