Forest Heritage Days Cruise

Forest Heritage Days 2026 brings together maritime and forest working histories on Moosehead Lake. On August 7, participants will travel by the historic Steamship Katahdin or by bus to the Great Northern Storehouse in Lily Bay, where both groups share a commemorative lunch and hear from Weyerhaeuser and the Appalachian Mountain Club on land stewardship. Passengers will switch modes of transportation for the return. The event traces the region’s timber economy from lake transport to modern active harvest operations, offering a living-history perspective on how the forest has shaped the community for generations.
