Join us for a special new series at The Rocks in Bethlehem: fun, interactive, hands-on learning experiences designed for adults, beginner naturalists, and forest landowners — adult field camp! At Session II on Friday, October 4, you can learn about fall foliage colors, take a tree ID walk., and make your own colorful leaf prints to take home.
Can you identify differences between red maple and sugar maple? Why do hardwood trees turn bright colors and shed their leaves each autumn? What is the physiology and chemistry of colorful fall foliage?
What about conifers? Are there advantages to remaining ‘Evergreen’? Join us to find out!
We’ll enjoy an easy-paced guided tree identification stroll at The Rocks to see and identify the more common hardwood tree species at The Rocks. The walk will take place on varied terrain including up hills, on adjacent trails and gravel roads.
Then engage your creative energy to create your own DIY gel-print colorful leaf art you can take home!
