Forest Chanting to the Trees — Waterside Chanting beside or in the Tenagatino Zibi (Gatineau river)

7:00–8:30 p.m. (we may go longer because of swims)
Chelsea, Québec — Gatineau River Yacht Club, beside the island

Parking is at the top of the hill and then walk on the road to the entrance to the river.
Join us for a summer evening of waterside chanting, singing, swimming if you want and reverence at the edge of the river.
This Forest Chanting gathering will be held at the Algonquin Peoples shorelines also known as the Gatineau River -where the Yacht Club entrance is, we will be beside the island Yacht club where many locals know and swim to and from. We will gather near the water to sing, chant, and offer our voices to the ancient canoe travellers, the trees, the river sprites, and the fullness of summer.
You are welcome to participate in the way that feels right for your body and spirit.
You may:
stand with us at the water’s edge or
wade into the river and sing waist-deep in the water
take a deeper swim while remaining part of the chanting circle
or simply sit -bring a chair, listen, and be with us in presence.
This is a simple, soulful outdoor evening for people who long to be near trees, in or by the water, songs, and each other. You do not need to be a trained singer. You do not need experience. You only need a willingness to arrive with respect.
Please bring:
a simple chair
wear a bathing suit (no changerooms) or clothes you are comfortable getting wet in
a towel
water shoes if you like (rocky bottom)
a water bottle
a layer for after swimming and going home
anything small you may want for comfort or quiet reflection
a flashlight to walk back up the small 50m hill to your car
Please use your own judgment in the water. Enter at your own comfort level and swim only if you feel confident doing so. Bring flotation if that feels right?

We gather to sing to the land, into the zibi (river), and to one another. We gather to remember that voice, body, breath, and nature belong together.
