Learn the basics of edible, medicinal and craft materials found in nature on this fun, friendly and introductory foraging day.
Walk through the woods with our expert guide who will introduce noteworthy plants and fungi that make the forest their home. Discover edible ingredients, dangerous things to avoid, and materials that can be used for crafting. There will be plenty of time to stop and take it all in, as well as opportunities to collect materials for later in the day. Our guide will aim to keep foraging tips at a level that can be enjoyed by children and adults alike; perfect for the first time forager.
Try out ways to use foraged materials at our Forest Hub for example simple bushcraft, cooking on fire, and making a herbal infusion. Youngsters and adults alike will have the opportunity to craft something to take home options including a whistle, dreamcatcher or art piece depending on age and ability.
There’ll also be time to sit around a fire sharing in food and community, or tear around the surroundings depending on your age! The workshop includes a simple lunch cooked on an outdoor fire featuring ingredients foraged during the walk alongside produce from Ewhurst Park’s Quality Meats range.
