Join us for the film screening of Saranam Gacchâmi, an inspiring story about Ven Thupten Donyo, a visionary Buddhist monk from the Himalayan foothills of Nepal. Witness his extraordinary journey to California, where he defied all odds to establish one of the Bay Area's largest Tibetan Monasteries—a sanctuary preserving endangered Tibetan culture, traditions, and language. Experience the Monastery and glimpse the beautiful Tibetan culture and vibrant community in the Bay Area. Enjoy a guided Monastery Tour and chai before the film with us!

4:00-4:30 pm: Monastery Tour
4:30-5:00 pm: Tea and Welcome
5:00-6:00 pm: Screening and Panel Discussion
*Pls assemble in the courtyard by 4 pm if interested in the tour. Kindly be seated by 5pm for the screening.
Speakers:
Priyanka Suryaneni is an Indian-origin documentarian, media entrepreneur, and visual storyteller focusing on social justice and non-mainstream stories. She is the director/producer of "Saranam Gacchami.”
Thupten Donyo is the Founder and Director of the Gyuto Foundation and Delek Children’s Foundation, a non-profit organization that helps Himalayan children and people.
Jinpa Tharchin is the President of the Tibetan Association of Northern California (TANC). The organization hosts various events and activities, including Sunday school programs, to promote Tibetan culture and language.
Tsering Wangmo Satho is a California-based Tibetan opera singer and dancer. She was honored as a 2022 NEA National Heritage Fellow.
Tsering Dorjee Bawa, an award-winning actor and Tibetan music performer for over three decades, starred in the Oscar-nominated "Himalaya" (1999) and composed the soundtrack for the Emmy-winning "Women of Tibet – A Quiet Revolution" (2009).
Moderator: sujatha baliga is a restorative justice educator, author, and advocate and a 2019 winner of the MacArthur fellowship. She is also a lay member of the Gyuto Foundation and believes that her faith journey informs her justice work.
