Clean Slate Day - Contra Costa County Record Expungement

The Reentry Success Center (RSC) in partnership with the Contra Costa County Public Defender’s office is excited to announce we will be hosting, “Clean Slate Day” for residents of Contra Costa County who have been impacted by the criminal justice system. This event is scheduled for, Friday, April 12, 2024, 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

The attorneys will be providing the following legal services; record expungement, early probation termination, and registration relief.

Please note that participation is limited to Contra Costa County criminal matters only.

There will also be community based organizations offering free programs and services, in additon to hourly raffles, and food.

Felony expungement petitions take approximately 6-8 months to receive a hearing date and misdemeanor expungement petitions take approximately 2-4 months to receive a hearing date. The Clean Slate Unit will contact you if we need additional documents. We will also notify you of the outcome of your petition at the conclusion of your case. If your expungement petition is granted, the court clerk’s office will forward the information to the California Department of Justice in order to update your wrap sheet. This process normally takes thirty to sixty days.If you continue to experience issues with expunged convictions showing up during your background checks, please contact our office for additional assistance.

The Public Defender will be able to provide personalized help to start your record clearance process. They are a safe, confidential resource and are not part of any law enforcement agency and will not share your information with anyone.
