Join us on 30 September 2024, at the Beechwood National Memorial Center’s Sacred Space screening of the Spirit Bear: Echoes of the Past short film. This stop-motion animation film tells the story of Spirit Bear creating a special plaque to teach people about Peter Henderson Bryce, a courageous doctor who spoke out about the terrible health conditions and children getting sick in residential schools. In doing so, Spirit Bear realizes the importance of learning history to make better decisions now and for future generations of children and cubs.Following the screening, there will be a short Q & A with some of the voice actors from the Spirit Bear Film. Following that, the students will walk to the resting place of Dr. PH Bryce whilst learning about the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s 94 Calls to Action.
Students will also have an opportunity to add to the Rock Garden surrounding the Children's Sacred Forest through an educational activity.
