First performed in 1976, Ntozake Shange’s for colored girls who have considered suicide/when the rainbow is enuf is a groundbreaking choreopoem blending poetry, music, movement, and song. Through a series of interconnected poems, seven women, each identified by a color, share stories of love, resilience, sisterhood, struggle, and survival. This 50th anniversary production honors Shange’s vision of celebrating Black womanhood in all its beauty and complexity while confronting issues that remain urgent today. CAST
