Food, the great divider?
Hosted by Co-operate, the Oxford network for Climate Aware Women
Event Details:
Date: November 6th 2024
Time: 17:30 - 19:00
Location: Old Fire Station
Description:
Join us for a thought-provoking discussion on our global and national food system. Is it fit for purpose? How vulnerable is it? Learn about sustainable food practices and how they can help combat climate change. Connect with like-minded women and be part of the change. Let's come together to make a difference!
For some of us food is associated with company, joy and having a good time; for others it is something grabbed quickly and alone, and for many it is a question of searching to find the means to stay alive and healthy.
How has it come to this? And why is there so much food waste in the UK both at a household and business level?
We’re still firming up our panel of experts but they’ll include someone from Good Food Oxford who will talk about their local Farm to Fork project as well as someone who has worked on national food policy.
We’ll consider the problem of food insecurity, food distribution and all the impacts they have, and we’ll ask our panellists and attendees to give us their most ambitious ideas for solutions.
You’ll leave having delved a bit deeper into a subject that concerns us all, with some new thoughts and awareness of what’s happening locally, and you’ll have had plenty of time to connect with people from different sectors.
Co-operate aims to be relaxed, inspirational and practical. There is always so much knowledge and energy in the room that we allow plenty of time for discussion and sharing of ideas.
