Food Safety: Challenges from Field to Fork
About this Event
Food systems face mounting challenges to biosecurity at every stage of the supply chain from production, manufacturing, storage and transport through to retail and the consumer. Threats to public health are never far from the headlines with major consequences for public health, business and big brands when it goes wrong, e.g. recent outbreak of Cyclospora illnesses from Iceberg lettuce across 15 US states.
The Norwich Research Park academic and business community is tackling these challenges head on, from responses to antimicrobial resistance, use of non-chemical biologicals to support soil, plant and animal health, crop improvements, monitoring and forensic techniques to limit outbreaks, and exploring the risks presented by novel processing, ingredients and future food and production techniques.
This event will provide real examples of how scientists are working in collaboration with stakeholders across industry to reduce risks to business and public health.
Discussion Panel: Challenges of securing end to end biosecurity, roles and responsibilities between industry and Government, monitoring and challenges in adopting or enabling new technologies and approaches.
