Food For Fashion

As we head into October, we’re getting ready for our final Food for Fashion of the year, and we would love to make this one our most generous yet.
Food for Fashion is about so much more than clothing and cans. It’s about neighbours looking out for one another, our community coming together, and the little things we can do to make life a little easier for someone else. Every can donated is a reminder that we all have something to give, and that together, those small acts of kindness can make a real difference.
The idea is simple. Bring along shelf-stable food items to donate, and in return, you can take home up to five items of clothing for every donation. It’s a chance to refresh your wardrobe, find something you love, and help put food on the shelves for local families and individuals who could use a little extra support.
This October, we’re asking our wonderful community to consider donating a little more than they take home, if they are able to. If you have a few extra cans in the pantry, can pop something extra into your shopping trolley, or have the means to give a little more, every additional donation helps. There is no expectation for anyone to give more than they can afford. Every single donation counts, and we are grateful for whatever you can contribute.
All donated food goes towards supporting people in our local community through Massey Community Hub and Mānutewhau Community Hub. Your generosity helps us continue providing food support to people who need a hand up, it means so much to know that our community cares.
We also want to take a moment to acknowledge the incredible organisations that have helped make Food for Fashion possible throughout this year. A heartfelt thank you to Dress for Success Auckland and Fix Up, Look Sharp for their ongoing support and clothing contributions. Your generosity helps us offer quality clothing to our community and gives these items another life with someone who will appreciate them.
Thank you also to the Henderson-Massey Local Board for supporting community events like Food for Fashion. Support for initiatives like this helps bring people together, strengthen local connections, and create opportunities that benefit the wider Massey community.

October will be our last Food for Fashion for 2026.
November will be a busy month as we bring you Arts in the Park.
December bringing the Christmas season, we’ll be taking a short break before returning in January.
We’re looking forward to another year of sharing, caring and connecting with you all.
