About this Event
Heart disease is a leading cause of death for both men and women. This class will teach you how to protect your heart with food, stay healthy, and live well, longer.
You can reduce cardiovascular risk factors, such as high blood pressure and cholesterol, through simple dietary and lifestyle changes. Pioneering studies by doctors Barnard, Ornish, Esselstyn, and others have proven that a low-fat, plant-based diet, combined with exercise, can prevent, delay, and even reverse heart disease and other cardiovascular events.
This class focuses on how to improve common risk factors for heart disease:
- Inflammation: A plant-based diet reduces inflammation that can lead to heart disease and other conditions.
- Atherosclerosis: Diets rich in saturated fat and cholesterol cause plaque buildup in the arteries, restricting blood flow. We’ll show you how to reduce and eliminate plaque.
- High Blood Pressure: A plant-based diet, rich in potassium, improves blood pressure.
- High Cholesterol: Eating high-fiber, low-fat foods will lower cholesterol.
In addition, we’ll hear from Dr. Barnard, conduct a cooking demonstration, and share valuable resources and recipes to support your journey to heart health.
