Food as Medicine: Summer Health - Staying Well and Nourished

Presented by 4Root's Culinary Health Institute at Center for Health & Wellbeing

Explore the powerful connection between what’s on your plate and your overall health through our Food as Medicine chef and physician or dietician-led demonstration series! 🧑‍🍳🩺

Join Dr. Amber Orman and Erik Amnott for an evening focused on maintaining your health during the summer. Guests will receive tips on how to balance the heat of the summer while staying healthy and energized. From inspired light satisfying meals to the importance of hydration, you’ll receive ideas on ways to keep your summer cool, active, and, nourished.

About Food as Medicine

Our Food as Medicine class series pairs a local chef with a physician or registered dietitian for a demonstration-style culinary health experience, where the chef prepares a three-course, plant-based menu while the medical expert shares evidence-based insights on how the ingredients support long-term health and disease prevention.

Guests engage with both experts throughout the class and enjoy a tasting of each course: an appetizer, entrée, and dessert

What You’ll Experience
  • Expert Guidance and Interactive Q&A with a Dr. Amber Orman and Erik Amnot about the importance of maintaining health throughout the summer.
  • Culinary Demonstration and Tasting of a 3-course plant-forward meal focused on meals that are light, nourishing, and satisfying.
  • Connection with other guests through conversation, shared ideas, and inspiration.

Our Monthly Class Series

The Food as Medicine series is our Level 2 experience: A chef and physician or dietitian-led, three-course demonstration exploring the connection between nutrition and health, with tastings of each course.

We also offer:

  • Cooking with Confidence (Level 1): a demonstration-style introduction to essential cooking skills and an approachable plant-based recipe with a local chef, home cook, or nutrition specialist.
  • Harvest to Table (Level 3): Our premium hands-on class, where guests cook alongside a chef, engage with a physician or dietitian, and enjoy a full farm-to-table culinary experience.

Each series is themed around a monthly culinary or nutrition topic, allowing guests to continue building knowledge and skills over time.
