About this Event
When Eating Becomes a Problem
Food addiction is unlike most other addictions in that we must eat in order to live. So we can't just stop cold turkey. There has to be another way, and there is!
Join Eat for the Earth for this educational and inspiring presentation where you will learn how food addictions develop and what drives them. You will also hear about some of the physical health consequences of food addiction such as obesity and chronic diseases.
Presenter Dr. María José Hummel will offer hope, teaching you how to overcome food addiction by eating the right foods. She will also offer other evidence-based non-pharmaceutical approaches.
Let's Eat Together!
We will start our time together with a whole food, plant-based potluck. Please bring a dish to share that is made exclusively from whole plant ingredients and is free of added oil. Please avoid bringing dishes containing meat, dairy, fish, eggs, or other animal-derived ingredients.
Here are some recipe sites for inspiration:
- Forks Over Knives Recipe Collection
- Monkey and Me Recipes
- Center for Nutrition Studies Recipes
If you are new to this way of eating, feel free to bring something simple like a fresh fruit platter or green salad.
We appreciate donations of any size to support the nonprofit Eat for the Earth.
