A famous general once said, “the only thing more ugly than a defeated battlefield is a victorious one.” After the battle, the field was strewn with hundreds of dead and wounded from both sides. This lecture will explore how the wounded were treated and where, how and when the dead bodies were buried. You will be surprised to learn that most of the soldiers killed in the battle are still on the field. This program will be presented by award winning author and Friends of Monmouth Battlefield President, Dr. David Martin. Dr. Martin is the author of over 20 books on the Revolutionary War and Civil War, including two award-winning books on Gettysburg. He is also the author of “A Molly Pitcher Sourcebook” (2003),
Join us at 2:00 PM in the Visitor Center auditorium at Monmouth Battlefield State Park, 20 State Route 33, Manalapan, NJ. The lecture is open to the public and admission is free. For further information: [email protected]
