For over 100 years the Herring Girls were the backbone of the UK’s fishing industry. Following the Fish is a joint project run by High Life Highland’s Archive Service in partnership with Suffolk Archives, the Norfolk Record Office, and Tasglann nan Eilean (the Hebridean Archives) to capture their stories. The Museum will host this exhibition from 9th March - 25th April.
The exhibition showcases stories, photographs and memories captured through interviews with locals and family members of herring lassies. We will also be showcasing a brand new virtual reality experience courtesy of Timespan Museum and Open Virtual Worlds.
There is no admission charge, but we always welcome donations to help towards the upkeep of the museum or towards our upcoming redevelopment project.
