THIRD DATE // alt-folk-indie rock
Third date is a 4-piece alternative rock band that blends folk and indie rock influences to create a dreamy, nostalgic sound, defined by moody bass lines and soaring violin melodies.
THE GATED COMMUNITY // americana
The Gated Community is a Minneapolis-based Americana band celebrating its twentieth anniversary year. Formed in 2006 in the city’s storied West Bank neighborhood by South Asian American singer-songwriter Sumanth Gopinath, the band is known for its gripping original songs, beautiful vocal harmonies, and multiple lead singers. Encompassing country, folk, bluegrass, and rock influences, TGC's genre-bending style draws comparisons to Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, Gillian Welch, and the Band, among others.
They are celebrating the release of their new single "Hope to Hell," proceeds from which are going to the Minnesota Immigrant Rights Action Committee (MIRAC). The song was recently featured by Americana UK.
Band members are Sumanth Gopinath (acoustic guitar), Rosie Harris (banjo), Beth Hartman (organ and auxiliary percussion), Paul Hatlelid (drums), Cody Johnson (bass), and Nate Knutson (electric guitar). Everyone in the band sings.
WITNESS TRIPS // folk
Witness Trips is a Minneapolis based folk singer inspired by psychedelia and country music. His songs are inspired by those around him and those far away. Armed with a guitar and a surplus of harmonicas, Witness Trips works to remind a crowd about the ups and downs of the human condition. As he once told Time Magazine, “Life’s a trip worth witnessing, so don’t be so quick to close your eyes.”
Project 37 is a non-profit with a mission to provide spaces and opportunities for all ages to enjoy music in safe and sober environments. You can help us continue that goal by coming to shows, following us on social media, or telling people about what we do.
