An advanced course with a focus on fitting to help you with next steps to making more complex patterns fit you well.Toile (twahl)..... a practice version of a garment made to test and perfect fitting and design.
This 3 day course is suitable for the more experienced sewists and beginners with moderate experience. You should be familiar with using a sewing machine
We will take a comprehensive list of your measurements, to help you make pattern adjustments and make a calico toile on which you will be able to make further adjustments to ensure a well fitting garment before cutting from more favourable and expensive fabric choices.
Day 1: Style, Shape, Fit
I'll be helping you choose appropriate patterns to help develop your own design skills and ideas.
We will take a comprehensive list of measurements and begin to adjust your choice of pattern in order to make a garment that fits you.
Day 2: The First Cut
Find out why its important to prepare your fabric and pattern ready for cutting by specific methods to ensure great results, which can be often better than some shop bought clothes. I'll guide you step by step to confidently cut your pattern pieces from the cloth, make markings to help you fit your pieces together. There will be more tuition on using tools and the sewing machine.
Day 3 : Pin, Tack, Fit, Adjust, Sew, Fit
A full day to continue with the making of your toile, I'll show you how to assess and rectify fitting issues.
Places on this course are £300 to include patterns and toile materials. There is a maximum of 6 places for this course.
