Fresh Handmade Focaccia Making Class with Chef Cem Demirli
Our Cucina con Noi series continues with a special hands-on focaccia-making experience hosted by Chef Cem Demirli of Osteria Al Centro!
Chef Cem is passionate about Italian baking and is excited to share the techniques behind creating delicious, bakery-quality focaccia from scratch. Join him in the kitchen as he guides you through the process of making authentic high-hydration focaccia while explaining the science behind every step.
During this interactive class, you'll learn how to select the right flour, understand yeast fermentation, work with proper hydration levels, develop gluten, master kneading and dough-handling techniques, and explore proofing, storage, and freezing methods. Each participant will prepare their own focaccia dough from scratch, gaining the skills and confidence to recreate the process at home.
You'll also work with a fully fermented dough prepared in advance, allowing everyone to shape, top, and bake their own focaccia using a variety of delicious ingredients. This unique approach gives you the opportunity to experience every stage of the focaccia-making process in a single evening.
At the end of the class, you'll enjoy your freshly baked focaccia, take home the dough you've prepared to bake later, and leave with a solid understanding of both the practical techniques and the science required to consistently produce exceptional focaccia and bread at home.
Please bring a container, an apron, and your appetite! Feel free to bring your own bottle of wine if you'd like!
