About this Event
At FMR, we believe that understanding how to build a brand should go hand in hand with understanding how to construct a garment. If you’re going to sell fashion, it makes sense to truly understand how it’s made....right down to the finer details.
That’s why we’re bringing our up-skilling workshop to the University of Leeds, giving you the opportunity to explore garment construction in a hands-on, supportive environment.
What is the Format?
Delivered over three consecutive evenings, this workshop is designed to introduce you to the fundamentals of up-cycling and garment construction.
You’ll work under the guidance of an experienced technician, learning practical sewing skills while developing your creativity and confidence. By the end of the workshop, you’ll have created your own reimagined garment from start to finish.
Across the three sessions, you will:
- Meet and collaborate with fellow participants
- Receive a creative upcycling design brief
- Select a garment to transform
- Develop a moodboard and design concept
- Learn how to use sewing machines (full guidance provided)
- Construct your redesigned garment
- Present your final piece to the group
All skill levels are welcome, whether you’re completely new or looking to build on existing experience.
