Hazel Dickens was a singer and songwriter from Montcalm, West Virginia who was a labor activist and supporter of miner's rights. She helped pave the way for women in the bluegrass music scene. This festival is a vessel to celebrate and honor her memory and the causes she advocated for, and I am honored to be a part of this.
