FLY ANAKIN
"Fly Anakin is a rapper and producer from Richmond, Virginia who approaches his craft in a way few contemporaries can. Described by Madlib as “one of the illest MCs,” the Mutant Academy cofounder was known for his razor-sharp lyrics, ear for soulful production, and collaborative synergy well ahead of his acclaimed solo debut, Frank (2022). After years of consistent releases with his collective, Anakin broke major ground in 2020 with his and Pink Siifu’s joint project FlySiifu’s, followed by their $mokebreak EP in 2021. A student of the East Coast’s golden age, Anakin transmutes it’s spirit into music that’s both classicist and pioneering, having worked with the likes of Freddie Gibbs, redveil, BbyMutha, and MAVI. With the releases of both a Mutant Academy project and his solo album (The) Forever Dream imminent, Anakin has cemented his place as a leader in rap’s underground Renaissance."

A lyricist’s lyricist—famously cited by Drake as one of the most gifted flow-finders in the game—Petey has spent two decades crafting a dense, soulful, and gritty discography.
In recent years, he has fully realized his potential as a top-tier producer, increasingly hand-crafting the cinematic, grime-layered backdrops that house his elite pen. In 2026, he returns with The Undisputed. On this record, his prowess behind the boards is as sharp as his delivery. No gimmicks, no shortcuts—just the champion in peak form, controlling every element of his craft."

"For the past decade, Mutant Academy has helped shape the Richmond scene, bringing sustained attention to an often-overlooked city. The collective, founded by Southside natives Henny L.O. and Fly Anakin, began as a way for a couple of middle-school rap nerds to share their love of X-Men comics and Ghostface Killah records. The two met in 2007, amid the “Throw Some D’s” and “Crank That (Soulja Boy)” era, but their own tastes, as they put it to Peter Rosenberg, marked them as “’90s babies raised by the ’80s.” They released their first project, Open House, as a duo in 2014 before expanding Mutant Academy into a Shaolin-sized collective the following year.
