We are delighted to announce a brand-new Spitfire experience location! For one exclusive day only, you’ll have the rare opportunity to fly in a two-seat Supermarine Spitfire from the historic Wolverhampton Halfpenny Green Airport.🛩️ The Location
Wolverhampton Halfpenny Green Airport is a 400-acre general aviation hub set in the rolling countryside of South Staffordshire, right in the heart of the West Midlands.
A former RAF airfield, Halfpenny Green was home to No. 3 Air Observer and Navigator School during the Second World War, operating aircraft such as the Blackburn Botha and later the Avro Anson. Permanent runways were constructed in 1941 due to poor drainage—and remarkably, those same historic runways are still in use today.

🌄 The Flight Experience
Spitfire experience flights will operate on 27 June 2026, with 30-minute flight experiences available.
After a briefing with your pilot, you’ll strap in and depart from Wolverhampton Halfpenny Green Airport. Once airborne, the South Staffordshire countryside opens up below—rolling hills, ancient woodland, and the region’s intricate canal network. In the distance, you’ll see Birmingham, while Telford and Shrewsbury lie to the west.
🕹️ Take the Controls
Under the guidance of a qualified Spitfire pilot, you’ll have the opportunity to take control of the aircraft and experience first-hand what it’s like to fly one of the most iconic fighter aircraft of the Second World War.
For those feeling adventurous, you can also opt to experience the famous Victory Roll, along with steep turns and manoeuvres that demonstrate the Spitfire’s incredible performance.
📸 Back on the Ground
Following the flight, you’ll return to Halfpenny Green Airport where friends and family can watch you land and capture that unmistakable Spitfire smile. Our ground crew will escort you and your guests for photographs with the aircraft—perfect memories of an unforgettable day.
