Flute Solo
About this Event
_____________________________________________________________________________________
When her fourth-grade flute magically comes to life onstage, an insecure comedian-musician is forced to confront her fear that she hasn’t earned the right to call herself an artist. Through a chaotic blend of singing, dancing, clowning, and conversations with her flute puppet, Emily spirals through perfectionism, creative insecurity, and the pressure to constantly prove her worth, ultimately discovering that artistic expression doesn’t require permission.
At its heart, Flute Solo is a silly, vulnerable, and deeply relatable solo musical comedy created by an all-female, queer-led creative team. Blending live music, choreographed movement, and object puppetry, the piece explores who gets to take up creative space and why so many of us mistakenly believe we have to earn it first.
