All 7 guest rooms offer beautiful private historic or spa retreat bathrooms. The beds feature feather down pillow-top mattresses and fine, luxury linens and nightly turn-down service with Nite-cap. The daily gourmet 3 to 5 course silver service breakfast, served in our dramatic, formal dining room, will surprise and delight your sophisticated palette. Waste away the afternoon rocking on our wrap around porch with amazing views of the mountains and town! Hillcrest Mansion has a rich history in the Allegheny Highlands. Originally constructed in 1911 by A.O. Surber, the house became home to the Surber family, followed by the B.C. Goodwin family, and then the Dr. John Emmett family.

Dr. Emmett, Chief Surgeon at the C&O Railway Hospital in Clifton Forge, VA bought the house in 1935 and immediately began to enlarge and remodel the mansion. Emmett's plans called for seven bedrooms, six bathsrooms, a spacious formal dining room, and a large formal formal living room. The front of the mansion was redesigned to reflect a more Greek Revival architecture, and four massive columns were added. The porch was converted to a deck with an ornately detailed railing, and additions were made to both sides and the rear of the original structure.

Since opening their doors, countless visitors have crossed Hillcrest's threshold seeking a peaceful night's rest at the historic bed & breakfast. Yet what they've encountered has often defied explanation. Dark figures gliding through bedrooms through the empty bedrooms at dusk. Phantom piano notes drift from their empty tearoom. The soft whispers of voices echoing fill vacant corridors!
