About this Event
Flowerheads & Candles (Bereavement Support)
Join us in person for a warm and welcoming session where we come together to remember and heal. Whether you're coping with loss or just need a supportive space, Flowerheads & Candles offers a gentle way to share memories, light candles, and find comfort among friends. No pressure, just kindness and understanding. Come as you are and be part of a caring community.
Flowerheads & Candles is a quarterly bereavement support event offering a gentle, supportive space for adults who have experienced loss to come together, share, and feel less alone.
The event is designed to reduce isolation, normalise the experience of grief, and provide a compassionate community for people navigating bereavement in their own way.
Who the event is for
Flowerheads & Candles is open to anyone aged 18 and over who has experienced bereavement, including the loss of a pet. It is suitable for people at any stage of grief, whether their loss is recent or some time ago.
What happens at the event
Each event follows a simple, supportive structure:
• A warm welcome with tea and coffee.
• A short, accessible talk from the facilitator about grief and the bereavement process.
• Small group discussions (typically 6–8 people), offering a safe and confidential space to share experiences.
• A closing Act of Remembrance, including poetry readings and the opportunity to light a candle and float a flower in memory of a loved one.
Participants are free to share as much or as little as they wish. Listening is just as valued as speaking.
What Flowerheads & Candles is (and is not)
Flowerheads & Candles is not therapy or group counselling. It is a peer-supported space, gently facilitated, where people with lived experience of loss can connect with others who understand.
The event recognises that every relationship and every loss is unique, while also acknowledging the common emotional themes that many people experience in grief.
Practical details
Events run quarterly to allow participants time for emotional processing and reflection, and to enable new attendees to join throughout the year.
