Flower Fields Forever: Alcohol Ink Painting with Donna Miller Haggerty

Discover the magic of Alcohol Inks! National award-winning artist, Donna Miller Haggerty will share her process of making vibrant, abstract floral landscapes using this exciting medium! You will learn a variety of techniques to create textures in your painting. Produce an artwork that will make your’s stand out with this popular medium. Collage and other mixed media can be added to your landscapes and will be discussed during class. Mounting onto cradleboards and adding resin, along with other framing options will be addressed.
Materials needed for creating textures will be provided: wax paper, saran wrap, salts, Q-tips, candle wax, tapes, etc.
Be sure to bring a brown bag lunch and drink.
Materials to bring: Alcohol Ink Supplies:
Papers: 11” x 14 Yupo paper is standard and what we will use. Other substrate options: Bristol paper, Canvas, Clay board, Terra skin, Tile & Glass.
Alcohol Inks : Any brand but a variety of colors including a metallic.
91 % Alcohol: in a spray bottle
Texture items: toothbrush, credit card, straw, eyedropper or pipette, masking fluid, wax paper, saran wrap.
Utensils: Masking fluid in a squeeze bottle, Mixed brushes*, Felt or felt stamp, Q-tips, paper towels, aluminum tray for paper, water cups.
Other optional: White glue, Candle, Tapes & Stencils, Gloves, hair dryer
*Don’t use nice watercolor brushes
Donna Miller-Haggerty is an experienced instructor and a National Award-winning artist who has received several awards for her Paintings. She teaches in The East Bay Area, Los Angeles and Palm Desert. Her artwork is displayed in homes and galleries all over the United States.
