Join us in a Flow State for an evening of celebrating art & expression at Narrative’s Open Mic: All Mediums Welcome!
Performing is not required to attend- come join to flow together and cheer folks on as well!
Sign-ups to perform are 1st/come 1st serve at the event. Performer must be present in-person to sign-up.
Spoken word performances- 3 min time slot
music/other performances- 5 min time slots
BYO equipment. Space is limited- please plan performance accordingly, minimal equipment only.
Featured performance by - author of Come Clean (University of Wisconsin Press, 2021), winner of the Felix Pollak Prize in Poetry, the Writers' League of Texas Discovery Award, and the Mississippi Institute of Arts & Letters Poetry Award. He is also the author of the chapbooks, American Lục Bát for My Mother (Bull City Press, 2021) and Hidden Labor & The Naked Body (Sundress Publications, 2023). He is a Vietnamese-American writer, a collegiate national poetry slam champion (CUPSI), and a native Houstonian. He has received fellowships from Kundiman, Tin House, Sundress Academy For The Arts, and the Vermont Studio Center. He has been published in Wildness, The Texas Review, Auburn Avenue, and elsewhere. He is a humor editor for The Offing Mag, the Kundiman South co-chair, a bubble tea connoisseur, and loves a good pun. He received his MFA/PhD from The University of Mississippi. He currently teaches at Tufts University.
Hosted by local poetry extraordinaire, Aparna Paul -(she/her) is a writer, chemical engineer, banana bread enthusiast, & amateur crossword constructor based in Cambridge, MA. She performs regularly, slams sometimes, & hosts occasionally at the Boston Poetry Slam at the Cantab Lounge. Her poetry & prose has been recognized by Reckoning, DMQ Review, & Gaining Ground, among others. She edited the anthology Reflections of The Land (Literary Cleveland, 2022) and is a co-editor of GOOD SOUP, a monthly literary/arts mail magazine (@goodsoup.mag on insta!). Her first full-length book of poetry is forthcoming with Game Over Books in 2025.
