About this Event
Come join us for a fun morning of birdwatching at Lido Beach! The Florida Young Birders Club (FYBC) is hosting a guided bird walk where you can spot local and migratory bird species with other kids and teens who are just as excited about birds as you are. Whether you're a seasoned birder or just starting out, this event is perfect for all skill levels.
We will walk out to the Black skimmer and Tern colonies, spend some time there and then continue north at the beach looking for shorebirds. Then we will cut into the coastal woodlands trails where we will see a variety of other species including songbirds and raptors.
This bird walk will be guided by experienced guide and wildlife biologist Kylie Wilson. Kylie is a native Sarasotan and a Pine View and Florida State alum with a professional background in avian conservation. She was previously the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission SW Regional Shorebird Biologist. She has also served as a Shorebird Steward and Monitoring Coordinator for the National Audubon Society. She currently works for Sarasota County in the Recreation and Natural Resources Division as a land manager. Her professional career began by volunteering for Sarasota Audubon with which she still remains involved as a board member at large.
Meet at 8:00am at 161 John Ringling Blvd.
Don't forget your binoculars and cameras to capture the beautiful birds in their natural habitat. See you there!
