About this Event
Join the African American Museum of the Arts (AAMA) for a powerful and soul-stirring celebration of Florida Emancipation Day. While the nation often looks to Juneteenth, Florida honors its own historic milestone on May 20th—marking the day in 1865 when the Emancipation Proclamation was officially announced in Tallahassee.
On Saturday, May 16, 2026, we gather at the Dr. Noble "Thin Man" Watts Amphitheater in DeLand to commemorate this legacy of freedom through art, history, and community.
