# 🌲 CHRIS’S 40th BIRTHDAY DUNE ADVENTURE! 🌲
### 📅 July 14th – 19th, 2026 | 📍 Siltcoos Sand Camping (Site #027)
### 🏎️ 4x4 Required – Open Dune Dispersed Basecamp
Hey crew! The plans are locked in for an epic 40th birthday bash on the Oregon Dunes! We are heading out for a week of primitive sand camping, heavy trail riding, and awesome coastal day trips.
This post has everything you need to know about our daily routes, trail curfews, and logistics before we hit the sand loop.
## 📅 THE BIG TRIP HIGHLIGHT
> ### 🌟 WEDNESDAY, JULY 15TH: THE DOUBLE LOW-TIDE EVENT!
> * **11:30 AM | Tide Pool Expedition:** We are heading north to **Heceta Head Lighthouse Beach** to catch a massive negative low tide. It's the perfect window to check out the hidden sea caves, exposed reefs, and marine life.
> * **6:00 PM | 40th Birthday Beach Fire:** Back at camp, we’re dropping down to the waterline for a massive coastal bonfire, steak cookout, and birthday celebration under the stars.
>
## 🗺️ THE DAILY BLUEPRINT
* **📅 TUE, JULY 14: ARRIVAL & BASECAMP ANCHOR**
Arrive at Siltcoos Sand Site #027 around **2:00 PM** to establish camp. We will be parking the trailer and tow rigs broadside to form a defensive wall blocking the notorious 20 mph northwest winds, completing a solid sandproof camp fort.
* **📅 WED, JULY 15: REEF EXPLORATION & BIRTHDAY FEAST**
Morning coastal cruise up Highway 101 to the lighthouse sea caves, heavy-duty tailgate picnics on the rocks, and our main sunset birthday fire at the site.
* **📅 THU, JULY 16: SILTCOOS TRAIL RIDING**
A dedicated day focused entirely on open sand play. We'll spend the afternoon carving bowls, hill climbing, and tackling the technical routes throughout the Siltcoos riding zone.
* **📅 FRI, JULY 17: TOWN BREAK & PACIFIC SUNSET CRUISE**
Morning trail runs followed by a midday "Town Break" 25 minutes north into Florence for ice top-offs and extra rig supplies. We'll end the night with an open beach frontend sunset ride.
* **📅 SAT, JULY 18: ULTIMATE SAND PLAY & COOKOUT**
Our last full day of open dune play, tracking new lines over the sand ridges, and an evening wind-resistant camp layout hang.
* **📅 SUN, JULY 19: RECOVERY & BREAKDOWN**
Quick tear-down, complete a strict Leave No Trace campsite sweep, air back up, and hit the pavement by **1:00 PM**.
## 🛑 MANDATORY SAND LOGISTICS & CURFEWS
*Because Siltcoos sand camp is completely primitive, make sure your rig and packing setup align with local forest rules:*
* **⏱️ 10 PM MOTOR CURFE:** Motorized vehicle travel is strictly prohibited on the sand between 10:00 PM and 6:00 AM. Plan your arrival, departures, and trail runs accordingly so everyone is locked down in camp before 10 PM!
* **💨 Sand Wind Protection:** July brings great coastal weather but heavy **20 mph ocean winds**. Zippered bags will let sand bleed through. **Pack all clothes, loose dry goods, and gear inside plastic storage totes with heavy-duty latching lids.** * **🧥 The Coast Layer Rule:** Shifting sand loses heat immediately when the sun goes down. Temperatures drop fast into the chilly 40s/50s at night. Pack t-shirts for the midday sun, but bring heavy windbreakers, thermal hoodies, and beanies for camp.
* **🚽 Zero Site Amenities:** Site #027 has no running water and no restrooms. We are hauling our own fresh water tanks and tracking in a mandatory portable camp toilet system and an elevated metal fire pan (building campfires directly on the open sand is illegal).
### 🌅 VIBE CHECK: GOOD VIBES ONLY
Our trip blueprint channels a classic retro, 1970s outdoor adventure theme. While the trail runs and daytime spots are 100% family-friendly for the kids, look out for our **"Good Vibes Only" sunset lounge setup** on the leeward side of camp—a subtle nod to our adults looking to kick back, talk shop, and relax on beach time!
Get your whips mounted, lower your tire pressure, and drop a comment in the chat to let us know what rigs and gear you're bringing out! 🏕️🏎️💨
