About FLOCK
FLOCK is a participatory outdoor dance inspired by urban birds. Up to 30 strangers gather and move as a temporary collective, guided by artist and choreographer Bex Anson and a contemporary ballet dancer. A one-hour pre-show workshop leads into a 20-minute live performance through Merchant City.
Through playful acts of gazing, perching, darting and soaring, the group becomes a shifting murmuration — a visual poem created in real time by people who have only just met.
Join the pre-show workshop for movement and drawing inspired by birds and public space, or simply watch as the flock gathers, drifts through the city and disperses again.
How to join the flock
1) FLOCK Movement Workshop
Arrival from 10:30am: Workshop Start 11:00am–12:00pm
Enjoy a playful session of movement, words, and mark-making, exploring ideas about birds and community, then:
2) Be In the Performance (12:30pm)
Step into the performance, become part of the flock and help us create a visual poem unfolding across Merchant City. To take part in the workshop and perform as part of the flock please register.

What to Bring/Wear
We will provide an oversized shirt. Please wear dark-coloured trousers and comfortable shoes or boots.
Refreshments
Drinks and fruit will be provided.
Experience Level
No previous experience necessary.
